Day 11 in Greece - 2023

Good Morning

I wake up at 08:00 and check Twitch to see if my friend Justin is still streaming. Jeremy is not awake, as he has to get up early in his morning to start his flight to join me over in Greece. Justin is still streaming, so I am able to catch the end of his program before he calls it a night. After he ends stream, I go back to sleep, waking up again around 11:30.

Alexandros

I walk to Alexandros, order my cappuccino, and decide to get breakfast as well. I get a waffle (said like wafflé in Greece) with Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, and chocolate ice cream. Holy moly it is delicious. Definitely not healthy. I take my time eating my breakfast, drinking my coffee, and the bottled water they give with each food order. It's so relaxing sitting on their patio area, listening to the ambiance of the sea. My stomach is fluttering, knowing that Jeremy will soon be with me.

Raia approaches me, getting plenty of chin scratches and pets while I dine.

Jeremy's First Flight

Jeremy wakes up at 03:00 and is taken to the airport by his dad. He finds himself in a long line at Delta to check his suitcase. His lack of sleep and impatience for stupidity cause him to get internally frustrated with a Delta employee who keeps shouting instructions over and over again to the passengers. He checks his bag, joining the longest security line he has ever seen. Apparently 03:00 is not a good time to fly out of Denver International Airport.

He arrives at his terminal, hungry as heck because he skipped breakfast. Thankfully, there's a Pizza Hut open and they are serving omelet style pizzas. Jeremy sends me a message saying it's strange, but good. He goes to Caribou for coffee, and then sits at his gate. He boards his flight over to JFK airport.

The Boardwalk

I settle my bill with Alexandros and walk along the boardwalk with the intention of finding Thessa and Niki. I don't find either of them. I am assuming that the young man who I had seen Niki with before had taken him home and adopted him.

People are swimming in the sea today. That's a first since I have been here. I also see multiple black kitties on the way back to the VRBO. I make it back to the apartment, turn on the air conditioning, and read my book for a while. I get restless reading, knowing Jeremy is on his way, and reorganize the apartment to make sure there is plenty of space for Jeremy's belongings when he arrives.

I soon afterwards start working, and time couldn't crawl more slowly.

Jeremy at JFK

Jeremy lands at JFK Airport in New York. He says the city looked so cool from the airplane, and it was surprising to him how much water he flew over before landing.

He finds out that the air train, which transports people between terminals, is under construction. He has to leave security, get on a shuttle, and go back through a security line. Ugh. He purposefully didn't fly through O'Hare to avoid this, as that's what I had to go through in Chicago. He makes it through security, and is told he needs a new boarding pass. Goodness, one thing after another.

He grabs Starbucks near his gate, sits down to wait to board, and plays Pokémon Go.

Jeremy's Flight to Rome

Jeremy boards his Italian Airways flight and is given a neck pillow. His flight is uneventful. He watches Fast and Furious 9, Nottingham, and Ready Player One. He is served pasta for dinner and a blueberry muffin for breakfast. He still has some time after breakfast, so he watches some episodes of Friends.

His flight lands in Rome, and he gets to exit the plane out on the tarmac. He gets to go through passport control in Rome, so he doesn't have to do that when he arrives in Greece. He gets a Rome passport stamp, and I am a little jealous. He makes his way across the airport to his next gate and sits down to charge his phone. I wish him goodnight, and go to sleep.
