The Giant Tent
Jeremiah had received free tickets to the Cirque Italia Water Circus from his place of work. The circus is located in the parking lot of the mall that he works at, hence his ability to snag free tickets. He managed to get four - one for me, one for him, one for his brother, and one for our sister-in-law.
We carpool over to the mall, park, and walk towards the giant tent. We present out tickets to the person guarding the entrance, and we are allowed in. It's so much darker inside than outside, and it takes our eyes a moment to adjust. The inside of the tent is set up like a theater in a way. There are bleachers in a semi circle, the seats facing toward a stage in the middle. There's a whole back area blocked off behind the stage, which of course, is for the performers.
Jeremy leads the way, and we end up sitting to the right of the stage, or to the left if you're one of the circus performers. It feels chaotic inside, but the good kind of chaotic. Kids are running around with glow sticks around their tiny wrists and necks, their accompanying adults sometimes also decked out, too. Some people have neon glasses on, bubble machines, and more. There are so many bubbles. Balloon-shaped glow sticks fill the stadium, entrusted to tiny human hands as well.
The bleachers do have these types of seats built in, but they might as well be like the metal bleachers you find at your local high school's ball field. Comfort is not something strived for. Norman and Jeremiah run off to get us all beverages and come back with these cups that have blinking lights in the bottom of them. It'll be just a moment now before the show begins.
The Water Circus
The circus starts with a man in a Beetlejuice or prison style shirt (take your pick, okay) coming down and swinging around on a cable wire. When he's done swinging and doing flips and such, the Master of Ceremonies comes out and greets us all. After that, to be perfectly honest, so many amazing things happen, that I'm just going to let the photographs below speak for the show. There were trapeze artists, bubbles, balancing acts, and so much more. It was honestly a very cool experience.
My only critique - the seats were extremely uncomfortable. I would definitely bring a butt-cushion with me if I were to attend again in the future.
