Day 2 in Greece - 2023
Waking Up
I sleep in until 13:00 again. I did wake up at some point earlier to video call Jeremy and wish him good night, and then went back to sleep.
I get ready for the day and walk back to the grocery store. I get pepper and garlic seasonings as the VRBO only has salt. I also grab paper towels, mosquito repellants that plug into the wall, and a candle. The mosquitos were awful last night.
I make myself scrambled eggs with spinach for breakfast while deciding what to do with my day.
The Waterfront
I grab my Nikon EM and my Nikon Z7ii deciding to go for a walk. There's a light drizzle of rain, but the temperature feels nice - and I love rain. I walk the short ways down the street from the apartment down to the waterfront and turn right. I discover that there are many seafood restaurants, an arcade, an ice cream place, and a pier. There's hardly a soul in sight - I seem to be the only person who enjoys going out in the rain.
I take photographs of various things - buildings, trees, the coastline, the pier, stray cats... oh gosh, there are so many stray cats. I get to what seems like the end of the boardwalk and turn around to head back to my VRBO. There are these birds I take pictures of that I am unfamiliar with - I later learn they are called "hooded crows".
I take more photographs on the way back, stopping at a little bar called Cuba to get a cappuccino. Bars in Greece are not what you think of when you think of a "bar" in America. Bars in Greece do have alcohol, yes, but they also serve coffees, have water, small snacks to take away, and more. Even though the drizzle is light, I'm starting to drip water since I've been outside for so long.
In for the Evening
I return to my VRBO and take a nap after drying off. After the nap, I video call Jeremiah and start work. I have Maestro in Blue on in the background while working - it's such a good show!
I cook the prawns with potatoes, spinach and mushrooms for dinner, topping off the dish with feta cheese. I wrap up work around 02:00, and Jeremiah calls me from his work to wish me good night. I actually fall asleep shortly after this time, not quite as restless as the night before.
