Good MorningWe woke up this morning around 8am. We went down and had the hotel breakfast. Jeremy had a waffle and sausage links. I had English muffins, apple strudel, and sausage links. Mount Saint Helens Volcanic MonumentWe got on the road to go see Mount Saint Helens Volcanic Monument. We got to the visitors station and discovered that the viewpoint was closed due to the fog and weather conditions. We walked trails around the visitor center, which circled around a pond with beautiful greenery. We then went back to the car and drove on anyway, figuring that we drove this far, we might as well go as far as we can and enjoy our time. We got on the road and the drive was very pretty. The fog had settled rather thickly, so we couldn’t see much. The rain came down moodily. We drove until we came to Coldwater Lake, which was right before the viewpoint that was closed off. We parked and walked to the trail that went to the lake. It was raining and a bit chilly, but it was still enjoyable. The lake water was very dark, and the fog was sitting on top of the water in the distance. There was no current where we were at so the water appeared to be very still. In the distance towards the fog you could see waves on the surface. We went back to the car and drove to the other parking lot. We walked down to the dock and lathered in the tranquility of the lake and the still air. The lake is definitely scenic and I’d recommend it to anyone going that way. On the RoadWe got back in the car and made our way back. We stopped at a sign that said “Planted in 1985” next to a grove. Jeremy stood in front of it and posed, as he was “planted” in 1985 as well. Wink wink. Rest and RecoveryWe continued our journey back towards Kent to go to Caveman Restaurant for lunch, which had been recommended to us. The food was smothered in barbecue. Jeremy got a ribs meal, and I got a polish sausage meal. It was good. We even got to drink some local sodas from their fountain machine. We went back to the hotel to eat our barbecue. We turned on Will and Grace, ate, and then cuddled for several hours just resting and recovering from all of our adventures. Seattle, WashingtonLater in the evening after 9pm we left the hotel. We drove into Seattle to go to a store called Mox. It was a really awesome store. They had a huge collection of board games in the center. To the right when you walked in there were gaming rooms where groups of people were playing role playing games, miniatures, and deck building games. To the left was a cafe which had an Edgar Allen Poe feel to the decor. Haunted Victorian.
We shopped a bit and Jeremy ended up getting several games, all in small boxes since we had to fly them home. We ended up going to the cafe for a very late dinner. We both ordered the grilled cheese with bacon. I got homemade apple sauce for my side, and Jeremy got Caesar salad for his. I sipped on a vanilla Italian soda, and Jeremy sipped on a Mr. Pibb. After we ate, we drove back to the hotel, put on Will and Grace, and fell asleep.
